Director/Executive Producer Jon Favreau reuintes with returning cast members to begin filming the sequel to the 2008 summer blockbuster

Mighty Marvelites, are you ready for a repulsor blast of joy? Good, because we're here to tell you that "Iron Man 2" is officially in production!

"Iron Man 2" stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, John Slattery, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson. Jon Favreau will direct "Iron Man 2", the sequel to "Iron Man," with the screenplay by Justin Theroux.

Based on Marvel's iconic Super Hero, "Iron Man 2" continues the story of the 2008 summer box office blockbuster "Iron Man," the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Studios. The first film in the franchise has grossed over a half billion dollars worldwide at the box office.

"Iron Man 2" is being released in theatres domestically on May 7, 2010 and distributed worldwide by Paramount Pictures. Tele Munchen will distribute the film in Germany and Austria.

"Iron Man 2" is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D'Esposito, Jon Favreau, Stan Lee, David Maisel, Denis Stewart and Susan Downey.

In addition to "Iron Man 2," Marvel Studios is also scheduled to release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Thor" on May 20, 2011, "The First Avenger: Captain America" on July 22, 2011, and "The Avengers" on May 4, 2012.
