In NPR interview, says it wasn't his decision and implies Marvel breached contract.
Following up on the news from late last week that Terrence Howard was not going to be involved in Iron Man 2 due to cited "financial differences", Howard got a chance to speak back regarding his uninvolvement in the Iron Man sequel to NPR's Scott Simon this past weekend. Regarding the annoucement that claimed they couldn't reach a financial deal, Howard claims, expressing dissapointment:
It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just...up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on, sometimes. Promises aren't kept, and good faith negotiations aren't always held up.
The spin being placed back on Marvel's shoulders, we await their rebuttal. You can listen to the entire interview at NPR.org - the reference above to Iron Man 2 starts at about 4:30 in. Stay tuned for more details, and join in on the discussion on this very topic in the forum!
